Talk about stating the bleeding obvious! It would not take a genius to work out that if John Lennon spoke from the other side that he would be asking for world peace, now would it; after all he spent most of his life promoting the peace message. Some might call me a cynic, even sceptical, but actually I have an open mind about such things; especially when I am told something by someone that I have never met before that they could not possibly have known. It is because something like this happened to me a few years ago that I have an open mind; I am sure that there must be a rational explanation for such occurences but we have just not found it yet. The problem is that the waters are being muddied by the charlatans out there who come up with these frequently occuring stories; like “John Lennon speaks out for Peace from beyond the grave”; most of whom are attention seeking, money grabbing people who are just exploiting the vulnerability of those who are still deeply grieving, even many years after the loss of a loved one etc..

actually nicking a little bit of Prufrock yesterday about mermaids I recalled another JB poem about the cornish coast where he referred to the undersea world and the bladderwrack, intimations of mortality as were a feature of the man himself and a number of his poems. You really get me thinking about stuff when I should be thinking about other stuff bondbloke but it’s quite good to be reminded the human mind is not just there for doing our robotic work tasks, well mine cetainly is ususally far from my work tasks anyway..

You’re right, it would have been more convincing if the John Lennon headline had said something unexpected like, “New Paul McCartney album ‘not bad.’”

Cliff - you had me thinking there yesterday, all good practice for getting into the Philosophy of Art tonight… I think I know the poem you mean, and yes it is pretty good. Glad to be of help in distracting you for mundane tasks.
holyhosesrob - would have been more convincing if it had been “New Paul McCartney Album Crap!”, that would have been much more in keeping…
