There are some people who just can’t resist letting people know that they think they have won an argument; even when they are too stupid to notice a HUGE declaration that Numptie has moved house; I suspect that the message might drop into his head at some point in the not too distant future, who knows. Actually this person stated categorically that he would not be coming back:-
You will be glad to know I will not be visiting again - I’m bored with the standard of your arguments. It’s wall to wall rants, and when someone disagrees with you, they’re deleted or indirectly told to f**k off. Nice - real class.
I knew he would be back his type never give up!
He actually thinks that he has been clever with a bit of one-upmanship:-
alfie said… You see Numpty, you got it wrong AGAIN. D’oh!!! Francis Bacon was an English philosopher, born in 1561 in Strand in London. Last time I looked at a map, London was in England….. Hey, that makes him English and not Irish, hooorah!!!
I agree London is in England; but being a rather minor philosopher this Bacon does not figure on my philosophical radar…
Surely, you must have realised I wasn’t talking about Francis Bacon, the Irish painter, alcoholic and occassional drug user who expired in 1992. Everyone, but everyone knows he came from Ireland don’t they - along with his Irish chums, the Duke of Wellington and Oscar Wilde…
The author of this drivel is obviously too wrapped up in his own self importance to see through the fact the he was set up, and took the bait hook line and sinker; does he really think that I am so stupid as not to realise which Francis Bacon he was referring to, if so then he is far more self deluded than I thought he was…
‘Fraid you were referring to the wrong type of Bacon there, Numpty. It’s so important to check the facts and make sure they’re right before pressing the publish button, don’t you think?
Nah, I got the right Bacon sunshine, you just fell into the hole that you dug for yourself…
AND, last time I read a history book, parts of Africa were colonised by the BRITISH Empire - from Britain, all of it, including Scotland, Wales…. and hey, even Cornwall!!!!….. and not the English variety….. which has never existed - ever.
I never said that large parts of Africa were not colonised by the British Empire, I named the poerson responsible for large tract of it being raped and dominated by an English company owned by an English man one Cecil Rhodes, and see the legacy that he has left us!
The British Empire wasn’t alone in grabbing bits of Africa of course. Belgium, Germany and the French all had their fingers in the pie - and obviously today the USA are doing a great job at shafting the third world…… Hang on though - the yanks are W.A.S.P.s aren’t they? White Anglo Saxon Protestants…. Oh God, looks like it’s our fault again!!!
If you want to take the blame for the Ultra-Christian Neo-Con’s then who am I to stop you?
I’ve just had a quick scan of your post - and immediately noticed those two glaring errors - which I trust, as you are so keen on telling the truth you will correct without delay….. and a quick note, I did not say the ‘Obby ‘Oss was derivative - rather the many, many equivalents in the rest of England were just as unique, just as culturally valid, just as historic as the Padstein variety - which you appear to deny.
Actually most of the other mayday celebrations are derivative if you check the facts thoroughly…
And the celts? Originally from the Middle East, around where Syria is now of course …. didn’t they invade and displace the ancient britons and their culture that once thrived in these islands??? Better not raise that one though as it’s a bit non p.c. and we wouldn’t want facts to get in the way of the Celtic vision…. (pass me the hankie mother, I’ve got something in me eye)……. But the comment about the English tribes painting themselves with woad and hitting each other with sticks whilst Cornwall was signing trade deals is as good as it gets for imagination…… none out of ten for accuracy though, but who cares?
I suggest that you go and read your Celtic history very thoroughly before making such asinine comments as this, I could supply at least three academics who will support my claims, that is if I could be arsed to do so; but this small minded person would just say that they didn’t know what they are talking about, so what is the point?
And I just about accept your apology for the language….. I find the good old ‘verb’ does a much better job, don’t you?
Again this person is so self deluded as to think I was apologising to him - FAT CHANCE!
Oh, by the way, that question that keeps slipping your mind - Mebyon Kernow, Plaid and the Scots Nats…. are they ‘loonies’ as well as us English Nationalists - or are they fighting a just and noble cause?
There is a difference between loonies and the English Nationalists; the English Nationalists are a bunch of hypocrites, bigots, and latent racists, whereas loonies are simply that, loonies…
Sorry to come back - but I was sort of drawn, like when an accident happens on the road and you just have to stop and gawp don’t you?….
You’re, not in the least sorry, you just couldn’t resist the fact that you might have the opportunity to make me, in your opinion, look stupid, when all you have done is to make yourself look even more stupid than you originally did!

He’s been on my blog as well and left a comment beneath my “culture wars” one of the other day. I get where you’re coming from Numptie. The British state is essentially the English state writ large. Scottish, Welsh, Cornish and Irish nationalist identies formed in no small part in resistance to the incorporation of their nations into the English state, renamed British. The English do no have the same identity, based on a culture of national resistance to a larger neighbour. English resistance to the state took on a class, local or regional dimension, not a national one. I wonder why they can’t get their heads around that simple historical fact ?

The funny thing is that I agreed with what he was saying about English Culture. But my point had nothing to do with English Culture, but with English Identity etc.; and I agree I just don't understand why they can't get it into their heads the they are NOT the same thing at all. No, the English do not have the same distinct identity as the neighbouring nations; it is the dominated nations that always end up with a national identity to rally around, whereas the dominating nation does not because it doesn't need one. A simple fact that these people just cannot understand!
What makes me laugh about this particular person is that he dug himself a hole and then proceeded to jump into it witout any help at all… Consequently he has made himself look so stupid it is unbeleivable!

They always do that, don’t they. My blog backyard is full of sad little troll bodies buried under tons of freshly dug earth. I don’t mean to off them. They do that, with astonishing swiftness, by themselves. I find it rather depressing that they never look where they are going (or can’t read the bloody great signposts) and end up decomposing out the back. Sad really.

[Sorry Numptie. Off Topic. Did I delete/edit the right comment over at my place? I left the bit in one that obviously referred to a comment above it and left the other as is. Should I take off the apology bit? Let me know if I have got it wrong. By the way, since I am way way off topic here. How did your name come about? It's so off-the-wall it's got me intrigued. No worries if you don't want to say. Just curious]

Yes Diva, I agree the walk around with their eyes wide shut, very sad indeed. I am thinking about starting a page for all of those lost lonely souls at the bottom of holes they hav dug for themselves; a sort of Hall of Incompetence!

I could add a few RIPs to that list! Keep your chin well and truly up. We not be able to change people’s minds but we sure as hell make them think.

Diva: thanks for editing my comments, with regard to leaving the apology, your blog, your rules, I will be happy with whatever decision you make.
There are a few that I would like to RIP (literally)! I always keep my chin up, especially when spoiling for a scrap; I agree totally with your comment, we can make them think, but also enjoy making them look completely stupid into the bargain…

As the author of ths blog I have deleted the content of this comment; if you cannot stick to the rules as laid out in the comments policy then that is what happens. And to say that you didn't know is not good enough, you should have read the comments policy first!
