I am totally fed up with hearing all of the clap-trap that is at present being bandied about concerning Muslim women wearing the veil; especially when we have The Scum and the rest of the tabloids using it to promote their own individual viscious kind of racism and bigotry. Personally I think that if if Muslim women want to wear the veil that is entirely their own choice; however they should respect my right to voice the opinion that it makes me feel uncomfortable. Leaving aside the whole argument about the subjugation of women (if a woman wants to allow herself to be subjugated she has that right), the veil makes me uncomfortable on several levels; for instance when in conversation with people one uses all sorts of indicators other than the words being spoken, such as facial expressions etc., the veil makes it impossible to see facial expressions, also the fact that women are forbidden to remove the veil in front of a male to whom the are not related sends out, in my opinion, the message that all men are sexual predators, and that makes me feel very uncomfortable indeed. I am not bigoted, racist, nor do I hold any strong religious beliefs; I respect that others have the right to follow their beliefs, but at the same time I expect them to respect my right to disagree with them, and my right to voice my opinion if something, like the wearing of the veil, makes me feel distinctly uncomfortable…

I’m going to ban mobile phones when I am king as well as other things, Bondbloke.
Phones stop you seeing the other person’s expression when they are attempting to communicate, and have additional negative attributes in that they are made of rubbishy silvery plastic, and have buttons that are too small to operate easily, and by the time you find the one you want the function has helpfully changed to something like “overwrite your wife’s stored mobile number with the number 999″.
I’d also re-ban parking outside our local co-op and enforce it with severe clamping; no questions asked.

Nah, mobile phones are OK, that is unless you have some pratt shouting inconsequential rubbish into one purely for effect…
CLAMPING??? That is far too good for those inconsiderate parkers - hanging that is what is required for them!

Doesn’t the veil and indeed the covering of some of these women from head to toe indicate that if men saw them, they’d be overcome with lust. It seems that some men are trying to control thier lustful thoughts by covering the women Blaming the women for their thoughts. Didn’t the Victorians used to cover table legs for the same reason? Odd
Oh, what do deaf Muslims do? They can’t lip read if faces are covered.
